• The Democrats, traditionally an anti-crypto administration, have taken huge strides toward accepting digital assets into their fold.
  • Kamala Harris, set to lead the Democrats into the next election, is adding an ex-Binance advisor to her staff, signalling a willingness to engage with the crypto industry.
  • Meanwhile, advisors and executives from Harris’ team also plan to meet with several high-ups from the crypto sphere in the coming weeks.

Crypto’s presence as a primary political talking point has strengthened despite a rough weekend at the office for Bitcoin and Co. As the market endured one of its worst weeks to date, news came through confirming that the current White House administration was setting up yet another meeting with industry heavyweights. The gathering will focus on current issues with digital currency policies and how they can be improved moving into the next presidential term.

Representative Ro Khanna to Lead Democrats–Crypto Meeting

The Democratic Party’s Representative Ro Khanna will host the meeting, featuring several higher-ups from Kamala Harris’ proposed presidential cabinet. The roundtable, scheduled to go ahead sometime next week, will be the second time Harris has engaged with the crypto industry in as many months, following a similar meeting between advisors and digital asset experts in July.

This marks a significant deviation from the current US president, Joe Biden, who has reportedly been unwilling to listen to cries for legislation reform through his time in power. Kamala Harris, expected to be announced as the next Democratic leader and 2024 candidate, is taking the crypto sector seriously and appears poised to accept it as a legitimate political issue.

Harris to Hire Ex-Binance Advisor for Campaign Trail

The community is still a little murky on exactly how much Harris-led Democrats would support the crypto industry. It’s unlikely they’d be as outspoken as Trump has been of late – but still, Harris looks to be moving her party in the “right” direction on this topic.

According to Politico, Harris is assembling her team of advisors to take on Trump in the 2024 election. One of the key members is set to be David Plouffe, who has several years in the crypto industry serving as an advisor for both Binance and Alchemy Pay.

We might have to wait a week or two to get an official word from Harris and Co what their stance on crypto will be. But at the very least the Democrats are communicating with experts from the sector, a clear step forward from previous administrations.
